Healthcare sucks..
My mother went in to the hospital at 7:30 AM to have surgery on her Carotid artery in her neck, left side. She was due to be there for 10:30 but they called and asked her to come earlier. In fact they called at 7 AM and asked her to come down. They took her in for surgery at around 9:30. Four hour go by and my sister is frantic, something must have gone wrong. Some woman, not sure if she was a nurse or not, says to her dripping with sarcasm, “your mother just went in, they took someone before her.”
So we had to get her to the hospital at the crack of fucking dawn for you to turn around and take her in later than her original time? No response to that. My sister waited for the doctor to come and speak with her in the room after the surgery. Apparently she should have stayed there until he came out, because we have YET to speak to the doctor. Hmm I wonder how the surgery went and what the hell he did?? I know she has a big incision.
Then they have her in Post Anesthesia Care Unit, which is like ICU in that you can only have five minute visits and she’s under constant supervision. We are told she will not be released until after 11 AM today at the earliest.
But for some reason, the doctor released her at 8 AM. My sister could not be reached, so they told my mother she needed to go home. Well my mother explained she couldn’t walk home, soooooo, they gave her a voucher for a cab and sent her on her way. No one at her house to receive her, no one to walk her to the cab, nope. They send her on her way less than 24 hours after a very serious surgery and it’s good luck lady!
Ask me what she has for insurance, come on ask me, MEDICAID and MEDICARE! Healthcare today sucks!
