Santa Claus is not invited here this year....
We took the grandchild to meet Santa Claus. She was dressed in her beautiful red dress, ruby red shoes and white ruffled tights. She was smiling and happy and couldn't wait to see "Santa!" The excitement was palpable. We were waiting in line, her father, her mother and I. She was clapping her hands and smiling. Then came the moment where she got to meet Santa and she promptly lost her shit. Tears exploded from her eyes. EXPLODED I kid you not. They shot out and knocked ornaments off the tree at the Mall. Her eyes were glistening, her lips were quivering and she was calling out to each of us, first Daddy, then Mommy then Nana and even though Papa wasn't there, she screamed for him too. Daddy tried to hold her sitting next to Santa, but she wanted Mommy but no wait, she wanted Nana. Basically she wanted whoever was the farthest away from that fat man in the red suit telling her to smile. Oh, you could tell by her face where Santa could place his smile and it wasn't on his face. She was not having any of his Christmas joy. We've decided as a family that we are not telling her that Santa comes down the chimney to bring gifts. Can you imagine the thoughts she would have? That thing was coming in her house while she was sleeping? Oh the hell he was, she wouldn't have any of that I can assure you. But when it was over, she calmed right down, waved good bye to the people taking the pictures but NOT to that man in the red suit.
Later in the mall, while at Build A Bear, where we go to relax, in comes the man in the Red Suit. She took one look at him and yelled," hide, hide, hide." Yeah, Santa is not invited here this year. We'll try again next year.
